About Our Teachers
|
Christine is a graduate of The Yoga Room School of Long Island where
she now co-directs the training of aspiring teachers in Asana, Philosophy,
Yoga History, and Meditation.
Certified and registered with the Yoga Alliance at the
500 hour level, she continues her primary studies with
Lucia Tucci DiPalo, her teacher since 2002.
Deeply rooted in and committed to the Iyengar tradition,
Christine’s training includes scores of workshops with
such notable Iyengar teachers as Theresa Rowland,
Gabriel Halpern, Sri Arun, Gabriella Giubilaro and Lois Steinberg. Meanwhile,
her efforts to remain well-rounded and open to other
approaches have led her to study a variety of other
styles including Ashtanga Yoga, Sivananda Yoga, and
Vinyasa, with various renowned teachers such as Frank
Jude Boccio, Narayani, David Swenson, and Beryl Bender
Birch.
Christine holds a BFA in Dance from Adelphi University
with a minor in Psychology. Her studies in the former
have given her a deep appreciation for the importance of
proper alignment, while the latter sparked an interest
in the deep connections to be found between Psychology
and yogic philosophy. She firmly believes that all
aspects of Yoga are equally important, and is currently
studying Ayurveda and continuing her study of Yoga
history and Yoga Sutras of Patanjali under the
mentorship of Georg Feurstein, Indologist and renown
author of over 30 books.
Christine enjoys working closely with her students,
helping them to work through personal and physical
obstacles, and to gain strength through the thoughtful
use of props and modifications. She is known for her
clear, concise directions and attention to correct
alignment to ensure safety in all postures.
She continues to bring her teaching out of the studio
and into the community by facilitating Yoga and
Meditation programs for Patchogue/Medford School
District's Adult Education program and the Connetquot
Public Library, and through on-site Yoga and Meditation
classes for local corporations and small businesses.
Whether she is in the studio, or out in the community,
Christine encourages her students to explore their own
boundaries with patience and acceptance.
